D-Luxe Burger

D-Luxe Burger

On our February trip to Walt Disney World, we decided to try out D-Luxe Burger.  We wanted to spend our first night at Disney Springs, and the food here looked really good.  The reviews I read were also really positive.  Brad loves a good burger, and I love good fries.  So we thought this place would be perfect for us.

We arrived at Disney Springs at 7 pm.  We immediately walked to D-Luxe Burger to find a pretty long line.  My first picture below shows the line outside of the door.  While I waited in line, Brad went inside to confirm there were enough tables.  I hated to wait in line, order my food, then find out there were not any tables to eat at.  We saw some people walk up behind us, get in line, and then send a member of their party inside to hold a table.  I find this pretty tacky.  That is just my personal opinion, and you may disagree.  I say this because this line was very long.  It was clear it would take quite a while to get through the line.  You could be holding a table for 30 minutes or more.  Then there may be people with their food who are unable to actually find a table because someone is "holding" one for an obscene amount of time.  Just my opinion.

We decided to wait it out because we figured on a Saturday night, most places were going to be this busy.  We waited almost 30 minutes before placing our order.  Brad and I each ordered a burger, two regular fries, and two regular drinks.  We were unsure of the portion sizes of the fries, and this is truly why I came.  I hated to not have enough because there was no way I was going to wait in that line again.

Below are some pictures I took while waiting in line.  They have a menu posted outside for you to start getting an idea of what you want to order.  There was also some live music going on outside of the restaurant.  Melody was not amused!

Below is the printed version of the menu that you can find when you enter the restaurant.  Through September 30th, if you have an Annual Pass, you can get 20% off of your food and non-alcoholic drinks.  We definitely took advantage of this!

After you order, you are given a pager to put on your table.  We were unable to find a table inside (I would say half of the tables inside were being "held" with no food and no pager).  So we had to eat outside.  It was chilly, and I personally hate eating outdoors, but we did not have much of a choice.  Since Melody was sleeping, we tried to sit away from people.  We ended up sitting near the exit, so it wasn't as beneficial as we thought.  Below was our view.

After we found a table and sat the pager down, I went and filled up our drinks and got traditional condiments (regular ketchup and mayonnaise).  Our food arrived about 10 minutes later.  [They bring the food to your table in paper sacks.]

Brad ordered the classic cheeseburger with ketchup only.  Since he did not order a true burger from the menu, I didn't get a picture of it.  I ordered the El Diablo Burger, well done.  I took a picture of it below.  The lighting was awful since we were outside, so I used my flash.  I didn't get a great picture, but I did the best I could.  The cashier warned me that the burger may still seem pink due to the spices they use.  He was correct, but I also can tell the difference between undercooked and spices.

The burger was actually really good.  It was a little too thick for my taste, but that is what Brad loved about it.  I personally loved all the toppings.  I was afraid it might be too spicy for me, but it was just the right amount of spice.  I didn't have to guzzle my drink after each bite.  Near the end of eating the burger, I actually just removed the burger itself and had all the toppings with the bun.  If I returned here, I would not hesitate to order it again.  I just wish Brad would eat it so we could split it!

Now the fries...I was disappointed to say the least.  I was really looking forward to these fries.  They reminded me of 5 Guys fries from all the pictures I have seen.  Even in the picture below, I am reminded of them.  The pictures also reminded us of an old Downtown Disney restaurant called Bodie's All-American.  Their fries were AMAZING.  We have tried to find them throughout Disney without any luck.  Brad still doesn't like to talk about them.  Well we hoped these might just be the fries that could compete with Bodie's.  We were wrong.  They tasted undercooked to both of us.  They did not look undercooked, however.  So maybe that is simply how they taste.  We did try all six of their dipping sauces.  Here is my ranking (best to worst): chipotle mayo, garlic ranch, 3 mustard and honey, horseradish, curry ketchup, and buffalo blue cheese.  I would probably only get the garlic ranch and chipotle mayo again.  Brad did not really care for any of them.  He preferred traditional ketchup.

So I don't want to write D-Luxe Burger off of my future places to eat.  It wasn't awful by any means.  I do not think it is worth a 30 minute wait, however.  If I was here for lunch or dinner, and there was a short wait, I would definitely give it another try.  I do recommend splitting fries.  Honestly, Brad and I could have split the regular fries.  If they would have been cooked properly, we would have probably needed the large fries to split.  But it was definitely not worth getting two orders of the regular size.  I would also probably try a milkshake next time too!
