Long Distance Hug Card

Long Distance Hug Card

I wanted to give both of our parents a little sweet Valentine’s Day card from Melody. I decided to try and incorporate her hand prints in the cards since she is much better with paint these days. After look around on Pinterest, I found an idea I absolutely loved for Brad’s parents. His parents live in Memphis, and we don’t get to see them as regularly as my parents. So the idea of a “long distance hug” was perfect!

So to start, I made Melody make hand prints the night before really diving into this craft. I let her pink a color from my paint collection (she picked pink), and I did both right and left hand prints on white cardstock. I filled the pages up because I planned to use this for multiple crafts.

The next day I started by cutting out the hand prints. I found one right and one left hand print that seemed to work best and set them aside for this project.

Next I used Kraft paper to make the card itself. I used sharpies to write out the phrase I found on Pinterest. Melody had some heart stickers I added from some extra decor. Then Melody signed it.

Now to make the actual hug. I let Melody pick out ribbon to use. Of course, pink it was again. I had her measure out the width of her arms to get the width of her hug.

Then I used tape to tape her hands to each end of the ribbon.

And there you go!
