Homemade Cinnamon Rolls

Homemade Cinnamon Rolls

Early on during quarantine, not all groceries were easy to come by doing grocery pick up exclusively. So I got creative and made a lot of new recipes using what we had. One was homemade cinnamon rolls using crescent rolls. They turned out super delicious and are a great alternative to store bought cinnamon rolls. My only hate on these is that the brown sugar mixture can really harden after the cinnamon rolls sit for a while. But they are still super tasty!

Ingredients

  • 2 8-ounce cans of crescent rolls

  • 1/3 cup brown sugar

  • 1 1/3 cup powdered sugar

  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

  • 1/4 cup plus 1 tablespoon of softened butter

  • 2 - 3 tablespoons of milk

Instructions

1. First make the filling. In a bowl mix together the brown sugar, cinnamon, 1/3 cup of powdered sugar, and 1/4 cup of softened butter. Set aside.

2. Take one can of crescent rolls and roll them out until you make a sheet. You will want to try and “smush” together the perforated portions to make the one (if that even makes sense)

3. Spread filling over the crescent roll sheet. Then add the second can of crescent rolls on top and press in the same way as you did the bottom sheet.

4. Now cut into strips. I did 8 strips and used a pizza cutter. Then “twist” each strip, shape into a coil, and place in a greased pan. I did a round pan, but any pan will work.

5. Bake for 20-25 minutes on 375. While they bake, make the glaze. Mix together 1 cup of powdered sugar, 1 tablespoon of softened butter, and the milk until you get a drizzled consistency. Add more milk or powdered sugar if necessary.

6. Remove from oven and spread the glaze.

And serve!
