Melody's FIRST Birthday Party

Melody's FIRST Birthday Party

I have said this many times, but it is truly so hard to believe our little baby is ONE!  I wanted a fun themed birthday party for Melody, but I didn't want to do a theme that she may want to do one day in the future.  So Brad and I came up with an ice cream themed party.  I personally loved the end result of the party, and it seemed to go over well with our family and friends.  Below are some general birthday party pictures.  This was a very DIY party, so I plan to post about all of the mini-projects that were involved.  I will link them as they are posted, so be on the lookout for those if you are interested!

So where do I start?!?  I felt like there is so much that I did for her party.  I guess I will start with Melody!  Below are a couple of pictures I took of her in her birthday outfit.  I made the shirt using my Silhouette machine.  Her pants are from RuffleButts.  Then I made the sticker on the chair.  The hat in the picture on the left is actually a clip from Mud Pie that I attached to a white headband!

Next up is the entrance to the house.  I got lucky and found this adorable cork board at Hobby Lobby, and I bought it hoping I could make it work for a door hanger.  Luckily it worked perfectly!

I wanted a guestbook of sorts, so I created that and placed it on a table with a chalkboard from our wedding that I used to include facts about Melody.  Above this table I hung pictures of Melody from her first holidays.

I was super proud of my favors that were made to look like ice cream cones.  I placed them in a wooden tray from our wedding and also displayed her birthday party invite on the same table.

The fireplace was the focal point of the entire birthday party.  The final product literally was decided on a few days before the party!  I handmade the ice cream cone banner, and I decided to display formal pictures of Melody on the mantel.  We then added some balloons to complete the look on the mantel.  The fireplace itself was my concern.  I found some inspiration on Pinterest for fireplace streamers.

We added decor throughout the livingroom and dining room with balloons, and we had a banner on one of our walls that contained Melody's monthly pictures on it.  It was incredible to see the difference from month one to month eleven!

Above the food, I added more of the ice cream banners along with balloons (balloons not pictured below).

I made a Happy Birthday banner to be hung above the cake table.  I had some inspiration from Pinterest for both the main cake and Melody's smash cake.  You can see the inspiration and final products below.  The cakes turned out absolutely perfect!

And everyone loved the sundae bar too!

We were sure to take a few family pictures before the smash cake.

A few snapshots too!

And now time for the smash cake!  I changed Melody into some cute bloomers, bib, and hat to preserve her party outfit.

As I add posts regarding all of the DIY projects from this party, I will include a link to them below.
