For Melody’s 4th birthday party, she wanted it to be Elsa themed. Instead of only focusing on Elsa, I did focus on snowflakes, blue, and other Frozen things we could find. I had grand plans for this party, but then COVID-19 hit. She originally wanted to invite her entire preschool class. But then school was cancelled, and even if I wanted to, it would be near impossible to get in contact with all of them. We also had trouble determining a date that we felt comfortable even seeing family for a party. We opted to keep the party dramatically small and only had immediate family and her best friend there. And we did it the weekend after her birthday. We decided this about 2 weeks before, but since I had already did so much planning, and I only needed to make 4 invitations, that part was easy. So follow along to my smallish Frozen party :)
My best friend, Emily, recently had a baby boy! It is the first boy for both sides of their family and for the both of us. As you may have noticed throughout my blog, we spend a lot of time with Emily and her daughter Lydia. Lydia and Melody are just two weeks apart in age, and I suspect over time, her new boy will end up just like a little brother to Melody too! I hosted a baby shower for her back in October. I plan to go into more details of the crafts I did for the shower in the future, but follow along today to read all about her shower in general.
For Melody’s third birthday, we had a Snow White themed party. As far as decor went, I played off the Snow White colors and apples. I also included lots of pictures of Melody dressed like Snow White. And I even added in some of her toys.
I really struggled in deciding an invite for Melody’s Snow White themed birthday party. I wanted something easy but cute. I told myself after doing the invites myself the last two years, I was going to buy pre-made ones. Well that didn’t happen. Mainly because I found it hard to find the perfect Snow White invitation. So I came up with an idea. My fear was it would take too long and be too complicated. So instead, I came up with two other ideas. I ran them by Brad and Emily, and they both ended up agreeing on the more complicated one (although they thought the others were cute too). Let me share the final invite along with the other two below.
A few years ago, my best friend Emily gave me an adorable Happy Everything serving dish. I adore serving dishes (my husband despises them!). Well last year I was lucky and found the perfect attachment for her “You are my Sunshine” themed party. Well I didn’t have much luck finding a good apple or princess attachment for Melody’s Snow White party. So I decided to make my own!
While shopping at Hobby Lobby for other birthday party supplies, I ran across a sale on unfinished wood. And I found this number 3. I thought it would be a perfect added piece of decor to Melody’s Snow White themed birthday party. With a little paint and ribbon, it truly was.
I wanted the invitations for Melody's first birthday to be super cute. The theme was ice cream, so I had to incorporate that for sure. I designed an ice cream cone using my Silhouette Cameo and used it throughout the party. I thought using it on the invitation would be perfect.
For Melody's First Birthday, I wanted a simple guestbook. I contemplated whether a guestbook was even necessary, but I really wanted something to document everyone there. I came up with many ideas, but they all were becoming either way to complicated OR I had no clue what I would do with the guestbook when the party was over. So I opted for simplicity.
I have said this many times, but it is truly so hard to believe our little baby is ONE! I wanted a fun themed birthday party for Melody, but I didn't want to do a theme that she may want to do one day in the future. So Brad and I came up with an ice cream themed party. I personally loved the end result of the party, and it seemed to go over well with our family and friends. Below are some general birthday party pictures. This was a very DIY party, so I plan to post about all of the mini-projects that were involved. I will link them as they are posted, so be on the lookout for those if you are interested!
