Unexpectedly Homeschooling Week Four

Unexpectedly Homeschooling Week Four

Every week, and nearly everyday, there is something new going on with the quarantine. This week we have found out that social distancing is going to continue at least through April 30. And we also now have a shelter in place order for Alabama. The shelter in place order doesn’t really change any of our habits. We are already only getting out for essentials or doing drive thru orders. So nothing huge for us personally. And we continue on with homeschooling and project completing!

This week was a fairly good week at accomplishing everything and staying on schedule. I do think having the planner has helped. I also do better when I can check things off, so it is very helpful. We started out learning about the letter A and the number 0 before completing an Easter bunny painting. Since that occupied her time only briefly, we watched some online videos, then I let her play Ker Plunk. It kept her occupied for a while because I made her set it up, and of course the taking it down was quick, ha.

Tuesday we did our normal dance class and practiced our dance recital. She did some coloring in a Frozen coloring book we bought a Costco a while back. Then she rode her scooter around the neighborhood.

On Wednesday we learned about the letter B, and Melody did some work on tracing numbers 0-10. When it came to craft time, I decided to participate. Our neighborhood is asking everyone to put Easter eggs in their windows, so we decided to make multiple eggs during her craft that day. We just painted extra large eggs with cotton balls and qtips. Then she spent time writing her name and playing Animal Crossing on the Switch.

On Thursday we did dance again. She did both her normal dance class and her recital dance, but we also did an online Frozen dance class I found on YouTube. Melody loved that! We took a wagon ride, and she passed out. We are trying to limit the wagon rides in the afternoon because of this, ha!

On Friday, we reviewed all of her letters A-E, and we learned about the Number 1. She practiced writing her name more, then we worked on a new craft with were button crosses. She couldn’t just leave the crafting at that, so she did some dot art!

As far as the memorizing for the week, she did successfully learn her birthday!

Week Four Plans

This week we are planning to do a lot of crafts. It’s what she enjoys most, so I planned two a day on school days. I am also planning for us to do more activities on school days. we are learning letters, colors, and numbers. I really think she is rushing through and getting bored. I ordered some ink for our computer and hope to print some more educational things that might be a bit more challenging. I plan to continue going over her birthday this week, and maybe adding both mine and Brad’s too!
