Rainbow Ranger's Birthday Party
For Melody’s 5th birthday, she wanted a Rainbow Ranger themed party. Well actually, about a month before she changed her mind to Doc McStuffins, but mommy had already bought Rainbow Rangers, so maybe Doc next year, ha. Anyhow, Rainbow Ranger itself was hard to find, but we did find lots of rainbow things we used along with toys we already had. Melody was specific and had to approve most things because she wanted everything to be in true rainbow order (aka ROYGBIV). The party itself turned out cute, and she loved it.
The sort of “centerpiece” to the party was set up in our kitchen area. I had a rainbow balloon arch set up with a rainbow birthday banner I made. Brad was my model first. Then we took some family pictures in front of it.
I then took some pictures of Melody and her cousins. While the last picture is not the best of all the girls, it is a perfect picture of the baby and a face she makes often, ha.
I plan to go into more detail in a future post, but below are the pictures of the main area for the food. I stuck with as much rainbow themed things as I could.
While our fireplace is rarely seen during these events since we usually keep everyone outside, I did put a banner on it. I included pictures of Melody from her birthdays past.
On our back porch I had a tray of favors along with bubbles and party hats. Then we had a table with balloons and a piñata and space for presents. We also bought some cardboard letters from Walmart that spelled Happy Birthday that we placed in the backyard. My thought was to use it year after year, but they did end up ruined afterwards. Maybe next year!
We had a special guest coming to provide a small bit of entertainment, so while we waited, the kids played. We set up the bouncy house as well as having our swing sets.
So some backstory about our “special guest”. Throughout this past school year, Melody constantly talked about inviting people to our house. I guess with COVID and the lack of seeing school friends outside of actual school, so was missing something. Well she kept telling me how her specials’ teacher was going to come over to her birthday party and do the Bear Hunt. I kept telling her that likely wouldn’t happen and to not get her hopes up, but she still insisted. Well one day I saw this teacher, and I told her. She was just the nicest and told me if she was free she would come. We actually planned the party for two weeks prior but Brad got sick, and she still was able to come. I found out afterwards it was actually her son’s birthday party day too. She truly is one of a kind and just the sweetest. As soon as she walked in the backyard, Melody went running for her. While the bear hunt probably didn’t seem like much to most, it was so special and Melody truly loved it.
Next up was cake and food. Melody loves being center of attention, so she thrives during this!
After eating, Melody wanted to open presents.
And I almost forgot until Melody reminded me, we ended the party with a piñata. This piñata was tough, and it took the men taking multiple turns to eventually break it open. I got some fun action shots out of it though!
This party was a lot of fun to plan even though the theme itself had very little presence. Melody still tells me she loved it, and I think she had so much fun with all of her friends. This was the first year we invited more than just family which was fun. I keep thinking the parties will become less elaborate with the DIYs and more buy it all from Walmart, but that has yet to truly happen. I am going to enjoy it while Melody lets me do it!
