All in Kids
My parents recently went on a RV trip to Safe Harbor RV Resort in Nashville, TN. Their first night happened to be on a night Brad was traveling for work. I decided to tag along for the one night since he wouldn't be home, and it would give Melody and I something fun to do. We've been camping with my parents to a few campgrounds, but this was the first time we have been to this one.
We decided this summer to let Melody try gymnastics. When planning the fall/spring, we contemplated different activities for Melody to participate in. I really wanted Melody to try dance. She loves to dance around the house. Brad wanted to try gymnastics. He thought Melody would love the activity aspect. We were hesitant to do both since she is also starting preschool in the fall. Gymnastics offered a summer session, so we decided to give that a try and see how Melody reacted to determine if we wanted to also do it in the fall.
We have spent quite a few days at my mom's pool this summer. While the temperatures have been fairly hot outside, the pool water has actually been refreshing and not boiling hot like previous summers.
The theme for Melody's second birthday was "You are my Sunshine". In case of rain or the kids didn't want to go outside during the party to play, I wanted something for the kids to do inside besides just play with Melody's toys and destroy the house, ha! I decided to make a coloring sheet for the kids.

Even before we had to move to the party to Emily's house, I had planned for the party to be primarily inside with only a few things outside. I wanted to find some sort of decor to add throughout the party that would play up the theme but also be fairly inexpensive. I decided to make centerpieces/vases to fulfill this!
For Melody's second birthday party, her theme was "You are my Sunshine". So when trying to decide on a party favor, sunglasses seemed like the perfect idea. I did have my own criteria before deciding the favor, and that was that it had to be something I could make well in advance (opposed to the cotton candy ice cream cone favors I did last year). I didn't want to be up late the night before trying to put together favors. And these worked out perfectly for that purpose!

Last year after her birthday party, I swore I would buy invitations. Well I never found anything I loved, so of course, I made them.
Melody turned two back on May 25th! It is crazy considering I feel like we just celebrated her first birthday! I started contemplating her theme about 6-7 months before. I went back and forth between two themes, but I ultimately decided on "You are my Sunshine" as her theme. I sing her that song every night as well as sometimes throughout the day when she naps or doesn't feel great. I knew I could easily play up the pink and yellow, so it really would be fairly easy to put together. We ran into a few hiccups, but overall her party was a success. Melody has been to see Disney on Ice three times now. She went once when she was about 4-5 months old, then she went again last year at about 16 months old. Our third visit was a few weeks ago here in Huntsville. It was part of her birthday present from Emily. Brad wasn't super interested in going since he has been twice before, so it ended up being just a girls' trip. Since it was local, this was really easy to do. My mom even tagged along to see the show too.
Melody turned two on Friday! I know it is very cliche to say, but time really does fly these days. I feel like yesterday she was born, and so it is hard to believe she has already celebrated two birthdays! Last year was a really big birthday since it was her first, but we still had a lot of fun celebrating our little one turning two! Check out all the fun we had on her actual birthday below.
Back in April we enrolled Melody in swim lessons at our local YMCA. Emily also enrolled Lydia. My parents have a pool, so we wanted to be sure and get them familiar with the water before the summer. The specific class is called 'water exploration'. Basically it isn't to teach them to swim on their own, but it teaches them some of the basic swimming concepts.

Until we had Melody, I never used Dreft anything. Well once having a baby, I realized I would need some great stain removers because that is literally what she lives for...making a mess, ha! It took me awhile to find a stain remover that truly worked on almost everything, but in the end, it had been staring me right in the face since we had her...Dreft. Dreft laundry stain remover is 1 of 2 stain removers I use regularly. The other is Carbona Stain Deviles Fat and Cooking Oil Stain Remover. I will show you that later though! I have some examples of some stains that Dreft has removed below.
Back in March, both Brad and my best friend's husband, Justin, were out of town for work purposes (separate trips however). Both of our husbands travel for work but they have never traveled at the same time. So we decided we should just go on a girls trip together while the boys were away.
Emily and I went to the beach with just our girls back in March. Both of our husbands were out of town the same week (super rare for them to both be gone at the exact same time). Well as a treat for our girls, I decided to make them each a small happy (I made a slightly larger one a while back). I didn't want to do anything super big for two reasons. One we only were going to have so much room in the car, ha! Two since we would only really be going to the beach one day, there wasn't much point to buy a whole lot of things to take. Easter this year was much different that ones before. Melody was able to walk this Easter, and she was much more interested in hunting eggs. We spent Easter local instead of traveling like we usually do. While we missed our out of town family, it was nice to spend Easter with our local family and friends. And traveling on holidays can be really stressful too. Unfortunately our dishwasher sprung a leak the week before, so that did create some drama Easter weekend. However it was a blessing we were in town to handle it. Aside from the housing woes, we had a very fun and eventful Easter weekend. Check it all out below:
In early March, we went to Memphis to visit Brad's family. His dad was turning 60, and his mom was surprising him with a birthday party that weekend with family. While there, we visited the Memphis Zoo. I don't recall ever visiting here before. As a kid we went to the Birmingham Zoo, but I never remember the Memphis Zoo. And this was an obvious first visit for Melody. My brother in law and sister in law have season passes, so they were extremely familiar with the zoo and what Melody would be interested in. So because of this, we followed their lead, and I didn't do any research before hand. As an avid Disney planner, this was difficult for me, but I knew I could trust them and their guidance!
When we bought Melody's Easter basket last year, we did so with the intention of it being her basket forever. So we used it again this year to fill it up with some Easter goodies. Check out everything we filled it with this year below!
