Unexpectedly Homeschool Week Eleven

So as much fun as I have had doing these weekly posts, I am planning for this to be my last post in regards to homeschooling for a while. This current week we are taking a break since we have a lot of birthdays we are celebrating which means spending some much needed time with our families. However, I do plan to continue using the resources I have mentioned before throughout the summer for at least 2 days a week. I am aiming do to 3 days, but once things start to open back up more and we get out more, I don’t want to count on it. These posts will be neat to look back on as we get back to normal again, and I plan to of course continue blogging and updating you with all the things we have going on in our lives!

Mother's Day and Anniversary 2020

Mother’s Day and our Anniversary looked a bit different this year due to COVID-19. We did see our moms both before and after Mother’s Day, but we still limited our interaction with the public. So no fancy meals or brunches inside of a restaurant this year!

Easter Weekend 2020

As I mentioned on Easter, it is a different one this year. We made the best of the entire weekend though. We spent a lot of time outside on Saturday since it was supposed to be stormy and rainy on Sunday. We ended up cooking a nice lunch and spending the day hunting eggs, watching church, and FaceTiming family!

Easter Pictures 2020

Easter is definitely not the same this year as previous years. We won’t be spending it with family outside of the three of us. We won’t be having our lunch at Texas de Brazil. And we won’t be able to make it to our church. We are very thankful for technology though. We will still be able to FaceTime our families today. We will likely order a nice lunch. And we can watch church via our computers. Happy [unique] Easter everyone!

Easter Baskets 2020

So Easter baskets were a little more difficult this year thanks to the coronavirus. Luckily I did a lot of my shopping before all of this even started, and I would say 90% of this stuff you can even get online either through Amazon or through a pickup service such as Target or Walmart.

Big Sister Gift

So last week my sister in law had a new baby girl! That is my third precious niece. I wanted to do something special for my other two nieces since they were going to be big sisters (again for the oldest). I opted for something small that the kids would actually play with vs a shirt or something similar.

Valentine's Day 2020

Valentine’s Day is a low key holiday in our household. I mean I do decorate, and we exchange small gifts, but we don’t do fancy. We don’t go out for fancy dinners, or exchange expensive gifts. This year we literally stayed in pajamas all day long! It was quite fun and relaxing.

Rattlesnake Saloon

So way back in August, we went to the Rattlesnack Saloon in Tuscumbia, AL. My dad wanted to try it for his birthday, and we were in the midst of packing things up for our move. So the new restaurant was a nice break. It is about an hour or so from Huntsville.

Top Golf

For my birthday celebration with Emily and Justin, we went to Top Golf. Emily’s sister watched the kids, and we decided Top Golf would be a fun place to try without the girls.

New Year's Resolution

So we made a “resolution” last year to help treasure the memories of the year that we tend to forget. I think Brad thought I was crazy at first but it was fun and became part of our routine. So once a week we would write down our favorite or most memorable moment(s) from the week. Then I would put it in a jar. On New Year’s Day we read them all together as a family. It was so much fun to look back at things we forgotten or moments that really made us laugh. I can’t wait to do it again this year!

Christmas 2019

We had such a great Christmas this year. It was our very first Christmas in our new home. I love getting to make new memories here. It really makes it feel more like home as we continue to live here. This was also the first year Melody actually understood and liked Santa. No tears this year!! We also did a lot of traveling and visiting family, and we continued a lot of our traditions from years’ past.

Mani-Pedi Day

Last week my mom suggested we have a mani-pedi day. Melody loves getting her nails done at home and saw my mom getting a pedicure and was intrigued. My mom was off work, so we decided to go one morning. Melody seemed to really love it except when they “separated” her toes. She has a toe on each foot that is sort of twisted/curly. We have seen a doctor about this, and he thinks it is just fine since she doesn’t really hurt from it. I think it is just uncomfortable for her when someone is physically separating them. Anyhow, she loved it, and she said she can’t wait to do it again. And how adorable does she look?? I mean they even massaged her little leg and feet, ha!

Melody's First College Football Game

So last year, Melody attended her very first football game. It was a local high school game where my alma mater was playing. Well this year we decided to take her to her first college football game. My husband is a graduate of Ole Miss, and we continue to have season tickets there. They were playing a smaller game in November, so we decided that would be ideal for her. A friend of ours that has season tickets behind us let us have one of theirs for this particular game.

Magna-Tile Fun

Melody received magnetic tiles for her birthday this year, and she has loved playing with them. She is always wanting to build crazy new things. So I wanted to share a few of the things we have come up with the last few months. Oh, and she has the most fun when she gets to knock it all down, ha!

Beach Cookies

I made cookies for one of Brad’s coworkers this summer for their beach trip, and I wanted to share. I used my cookie and icing recipe as usual. I found a cookie cutter set on Amazon. It had a palm tree, sunglasses, and flip flops. They were not my best work, but I still think they turned out cute.

First Night in Our New House

So as you have likely read, we have recently moved into a new house. I already told you about our last night in our old house, but now it is time to tell you about our first night in our new house. The first night we OWNED the house, we did not stay there. Instead we stayed with our friends Emily and Justin who recently moved too, and it happens to not be too far from our new house. Anyhow, we decided to do this because the previous owners had three dogs, and we knew we wanted to clean the carpet before moving any furniture. Plus we would need help which didn’t start arriving until the next day.
