So while Melody turned 3 back in May, we are JUST now getting to taking her three year old pictures. But she is still so adorable, and she is still 3, ha!
We started Melody’s second year of dance back in September. It is still the thing she looks forward to the most every week, sometimes every day. She is constantly asking to go to dance. We have a new teacher and new dancers and dance moms too. It is a bit more chaotic, but I suspect it is just a glimpse of her future in dance, ha! Check out some of my favorite pictures so far from dance!
So last year, Melody attended her very first football game. It was a local high school game where my alma mater was playing. Well this year we decided to take her to her first college football game. My husband is a graduate of Ole Miss, and we continue to have season tickets there. They were playing a smaller game in November, so we decided that would be ideal for her. A friend of ours that has season tickets behind us let us have one of theirs for this particular game.
Melody received magnetic tiles for her birthday this year, and she has loved playing with them. She is always wanting to build crazy new things. So I wanted to share a few of the things we have come up with the last few months. Oh, and she has the most fun when she gets to knock it all down, ha!
So now that we are all moved into our new house, we are currently “making it our own”. We have unpacked, but now we need to paint and decorate. We decided to do Melody’s room first. It was the easiest, and we already had everything to do it except the paint.
Melody loves dance. I am certain it is one of her most favorite activities. Well I originally planned to take a break from dance this summer and only do gymnastics. They released different dance camps, but it was so expensive for only a few days of dance. And while it probably equated to the same amount of time as the weekly dance classes in the end, I did opt to sign her up for weekly classes. This gave me a small break once a week, and she really had fun.
Melody first started gymnastics last summer. She really didn’t enjoy it, and we opted to not sign her up or the fall and spring last year. I would basically have to force Melody to go from station to station, and it just wasn’t enjoyable at all. Brad wanted to give it another go this summer, so I had him pick a time that he could attend the class with her.
Melody started back at school last week. It was in the midst of a lot of chaos. We sold our first home and purchased our new home on a Thursday and sent her to school on Monday. While this may seem ideal, we spent Sunday night searching for last minute things we forgot to leave out for school. No fancy sign this year because I couldn’t find the chalk markers. I thought I knew where they were, and I gave up around midnight and used a piece of construction paper and sharpie instead. I found the most adorable dress from Smocked A Lot, and while she did cry when we dropped her off, I think she was super confused at all the moving and not being at her “normal” house and such. She is now perfectly fine!
So we went to Disney on Ice again for the fourth time. Each visit to watch has been slightly different. Our first visit Melody was like 5 months old, and we went with Brad’s family in Memphis. Our second visit was with Emily and Justin while the girls were one. Both of the husbands went, and we traveled to Birmingham. Our third visit was a birthday present from Emily right before Melody turned 2. The show was here in Huntsville and it was just us girls and my mom. This year wasn’t for any special reason except the show was in Huntsville and we were free during the week to go. It was just us girls again, and we decided to splurge and get floor seats. I thought the girls would love it enough this year to enjoy the closeness.
Father’s Day this year was pretty low key. We have had (and continue to have) a LOT going on, so we definitely used this day as an excuse to relax as much as possible (including mommy and Melody, ha!).
It is so hard to believe preschool has been over for almost ONE month. I was such a nervous wreck when I sent Melody to preschool that very first day. She was so upset, I was upset, oh my! Well it was literally the best year. She ended up LOVING the school, the people, the teachers, everything. She is missing school so much already.
When Melody made the decision to have a Snow White birthday party, I already had the idea to do a Snow White ‘Barbie’ cake. Growing up I had many Barbie cakes at my birthdays and my birthday parties. I talked with my mom to confirm she still had the cake mold. And luckily she DID. So she gave me the mold, and I decided to attempt this cake. I was super nervous about making it, and I could not have made it without my mom for sure!
On Saturday our little one turned THREE! How crazy is that?!? I mean I felt like I just had her! So below are all the fun activities that we did throughout her birthday. And if you want to ready about each of her birthdays past click here…birth, one, and two! She celebrated her birthday party 2 weeks ago, but I will share all about that in many future posts, ha!
Now that Dance is over for the Spring, I thought I would share some candid photos I took of her before, during, and after some of her dance classes. She has really learned a lot and had so much fun. This spring, their focus was their recital dance. I will share more about that in a future post, but it was so much fun to see the progress she has made from the very first class until now. We also had dance pictures made during the Spring, so be on the lookout for those and a fun story about the chaos that was part of that! We have only been out of dance a few weeks, but Melody is already asking to go back!
So the entire winter, we went to the Botanical Gardens ONE time! It was too cold and too wet all winter. Or it just wasn’t convenient on the pretty days. We did find a decent day early March to go, so it was barely still winter, ha! Check out all the pictures below.
So we have finally come to the point that we had to convert Melody’s crib to a toddler bed. She was starting to put her legs over the crib in an effort to climb out. She never succeeded at climbing out thankfully. And we waited until after our Disney trip in February because we didn’t want her to refuse to sleep in a pack and play while there.
I painted Melody’s nails for the first time back before Christmas. Since then, she has wanted her nails constantly painted. Whenever one nail is missing paint, she comes to me asking for me to repaint them. It is super cute. Here is one of our last encounters…
As I have mentioned before, we always do a very low key Valentine’s Day. We never buy each other crazy expensive gifts or go to fancy restaurants. We always cook in (usually lasagna), and we have even been known to set a limit of $5 for gifts, ha!
I haven’t written about Melody’s schedule in quite a long time. I feel like things haven’t changed too much, and yet it has changed so much, ha! Well I thought I would at least share our nighttime routine. I may share her daily routine soon.
It is crazy how much Melody has learned in dance over the last few months, even since my last post about her starting to dance. They have not started to learn their spring routine yet, but they are learning some of the basics and how to follow instructions. Melody seems to be doing better and better. She is becoming a little less timid about “performing” alone. And at home she knows all about ballerina arms and dance, ha! Here are some more pictures of the rest of our 2018 during dance.
