All in Parties
I went back and forth a lot on what kind of party favor to do at Melody’s Snow White birthday party. I really wanted something that went with the theme, but I also didn’t want to take ideas that made more sense for future birthday parties (princess wands, crowns, etc.). I came across an idea on Pinterest that referenced Magical Kisses, and I opted to go with that.
At Melody’s Snow White birthday party, I wanted a main focus when it came to the food. I wanted to go lighter this year, so I hoped to play off the theme of the party. I came up with doing a caramel apple bar for the party. It played off the “apple” portion of the theme, and it was relatively inexpensive and easy!
A few years ago, my best friend Emily gave me an adorable Happy Everything serving dish. I adore serving dishes (my husband despises them!). Well last year I was lucky and found the perfect attachment for her “You are my Sunshine” themed party. Well I didn’t have much luck finding a good apple or princess attachment for Melody’s Snow White party. So I decided to make my own!
While shopping at Hobby Lobby for other birthday party supplies, I ran across a sale on unfinished wood. And I found this number 3. I thought it would be a perfect added piece of decor to Melody’s Snow White themed birthday party. With a little paint and ribbon, it truly was.
I decided earlier in the year that I wanted to make iced sugar cookies for Melody’s birthday party this year. They are so expensive to buy, but they make parties so adorable. So I searched and found a recipe that worked perfectly (cookie recipe and icing recipe). It took me quite a few attempts to get the icing perfected, but eventually I produced the perfect consistency for icing cookies.
When Melody made the decision to have a Snow White birthday party, I already had the idea to do a Snow White ‘Barbie’ cake. Growing up I had many Barbie cakes at my birthdays and my birthday parties. I talked with my mom to confirm she still had the cake mold. And luckily she DID. So she gave me the mold, and I decided to attempt this cake. I was super nervous about making it, and I could not have made it without my mom for sure!
Melody has finally reached an age where she has an opinion on things. When asked what kind of birthday party she wanted, she asked for a Snow White party. Of course she changed her mind many times, but Snow White is what we always came back to, and then it was too late…I started buying and making things!
The theme for Melody's second birthday party was "You are my Sunshine". Literally a few days before Melody's party, I decided to make a canvas using her feet to be the rays of a sun. It was around 7:30 at night, and Brad looked at me like I had lost my mind, ha! But it actually turned out cute, and I plan to hang it in her room now.

I wanted to have food that I knew Melody would eat, but that isn't much these days. I also wanted to do something fancy and unique. However, since we were living in a hotel, we had to adapt.

In case of rain or the kids didn't want to go outside during the party to play, I wanted something for the kids to do inside besides just play with Melody's toys and destroy the house, ha! I decided to make a coloring sheet for the kids.

I wanted to find some sort of decor to add throughout the party that would play up the theme but also be fairly inexpensive. I decided to make centerpieces/vases to fulfill this!
For Melody's second birthday party, her theme was "You are my Sunshine". So when trying to decide on a party favor, sunglasses seemed like the perfect idea. I did have my own criteria before deciding the favor, and that was that it had to be something I could make well in advance (opposed to the cotton candy ice cream cone favors I did last year). I didn't want to be up late the night before trying to put together favors. And these worked out perfectly for that purpose!
For Melody's second birthday party, the theme was "You are my Sunshine". I made a sun using my Silhouette Cameo for Melody's invitation, so I decided to use that sun throughout her party.

Last year after her birthday party, I swore I would buy invitations. Well I never found anything I loved, so of course, I made them.
Melody turned two back on May 25th! It is crazy considering I feel like we just celebrated her first birthday! I started contemplating her theme about 6-7 months before. I went back and forth between two themes, but I ultimately decided on "You are my Sunshine" as her theme. I sing her that song every night as well as sometimes throughout the day when she naps or doesn't feel great. I knew I could easily play up the pink and yellow, so it really would be fairly easy to put together. We ran into a few hiccups, but overall her party was a success. My best friend Emily did a Mickey Mouse Clubhouse themed birthday party for her daughter Lydia who just turned 2. It was a very adorable party, and she did a really great job without going too overboard which could have easily been done. It's not as easy of a theme as one might think. There are so many different things you can do and directions you can go. One of the things she wanted was a banner with all of the characters "headgear" on it. I was able to make it for her using my Silhouette Cameo.
So I tend to host/cohost a lot of parties. I absolutely love to party plan. And something that goes along with most parties are invitations. I address all invitations by hand. I have considered using my Silhouette Cameo pen to address some, but I feel like it would take quite awhile to do.
In preparation for Disney, I made both Melody and Lydia happys. I give Lydia hers at our Disney Party, but I gave Melody hers the day before we left for Disney. It was actually the last thing we did for our Disney countdown.
In preparation for our Disney trip last December, we had another Disney party. As you may recall, we did a Disney party in the past for a trip we went on with Emily and Justin to Disney. We wanted to do something fun to get everyone excited about our upcoming trip. Since it was near the holidays, our focus wasn't entirely on the trip. So I wanted one day where we spent a little time thinking about Disney!
